Cedarville, California

Early to rise, Sir Thomas headed out by 6:50 to meet up with the crew outside the rooms. His gear and sundries were still scattered around the car and he was under-prepared as this project was very last minute. He finagled a lunch, breakfast, his survey bags, and clip board but couldn’t find his compass, pens, and camel back. Last minute retrieval from the Explorer fixed that as the team was meeting later than he originally thought. He met up with the new crew and old crew members he worked on the other project with and were orientated with the survey area along the Surprise Valley/Barrel Springs back country byway bouncing between the California and Nevada borders. The skies couldn’t exactly be forefront on the weather so the crew was bundled in layers. Two four-wheel drives the teams drove out to their first survey area and it was snowed over. They found another survey section that was able to be surveyed, and the teams split up to cover different areas with extreme pedestrian survey up and down the valleys, mountains, and hills. They identified nearly 12 lithic scatters, marking the locations to re-visit later so that the larger survey team coverage wouldn’t be affected by a slow down with recording. As the sun set, they drove across the Cedarville playa, past the steaming clouds of the hotsprings, and into Cedarville, back to their hotel for rest and relaxation. Since the adventurers didn’t have dinner / kitchen set up appropriately, sir Thomas took Lady Etain and Prince Cian for dinner at the 1 of 2 restaurants existing in Cedarvile … the Country Hearth. They had toy cars for Cian to play with and the staff was super friendly and helpful. Alas though the portions were small and expensive. They ran into Sir Stephen and caught up with him. A good dinner nonetheless, they headed back to their room for rest and recovery.
