01.08.16 Struggles at the Cliff Hanger

Friday, 8 January 2016
White Salmon, Washington – The Dalles, Oregon

Another day of snow fun … Sir Thomas Leaf awoke, made up oatmeal, orange juice, and muffins for breakfast. Sir Thomas Leaf, Lady Etain, and Prince Cian spent the day organizing the Cliff Hanger, doing laundry, catching up with chores, and planning their escape from the wilderness retreat and poverty. Times have been very hard and stifling, so finding an end to this was of utmost priority. Prince Cian played in the snow while Kevin the Rogue burnt trash and cleaned up his house and yard as well.

The Rogue Miles was in a weird funk. Suffering from PTSD he was an odd one, always a bit offish to those around him. He did however really like Lady Etain, often flirting with her and that brought smiles to his face. They talked of sewing projects together and him teaching her how to sew (although Lady Etain had already taken sewing classes) and music that inspired them both. The continuous flirting bothered Sir Thomas, but he let it pass.

Sir Thomas needed to run into the Dalles to get some supplies, so drove down over the free bridge across. He fueled up at the Safeway utilizing his store points. He brought the Prince with him while Lady Etain remained back at the homestead. Sir Thomas dropped by the Goodwill to get the Prince a toy for $1.99 to entertain him during work session. Across the parking lot to Starbucks for Chai n’ wifi and so Sir Thomas could get some web work, job hunting, and administration work completed. Sir Thomas split a venti Chai Creme Frappacino with the Prince. The Prince was enamored by his toy. Sir Thomas worked a bit on his book and played cars with the Prince. On the way home, they dropped by the Grocery Outlet for some groceries for dinner.

That evening was a repeat of most of the snow-in dates, shoveling the driveway, dinner, and bundling selves with blankets for warmth while watching movies from the library. Life was not so exciting for the adventurers this winter … it has taken a turn for the foul.
