Lake George, Colorado
Travelogue: Apogaea, Day 2 [ Apogaea - Colorado’s Regional Burn, June 2009
Early to rise I meandered out to the hammock for some relaxation before breakfast. The camp slowly started waking. Viktoria, Alan, and a bunch of others camped with us too. Breakfast was had together - Noah and Bella whipped up hashbrowns, eggs, and bacon; while our neighbour Mr. Science made blueberry and banana pancakes. Mr. Science brought mucho toys and props to help make our camps merge night-time, like glow-in-the-dark webbing and lights. Got bombarded with bodypainting in the morning, and eventually escaped the body paint station so as to wander. Popped into Damien’s Cuddle Cavern to say hello and then wandered out and about down the hill. Wanted to hit the Contact improvisation but was a bit too bodypainted as I went tribal alien today.
- “And we will be ready, at the end of every day will be ready, will not say no to anything, will try to stay awake while everyone is sleeping, will not sleep, will make the shoes with the elves, will breathe deeply all the time, breathe in all the air full of glass and nails and blood, will breathe it and drink it, so rich, so when it comes we will not be angry, will be content, tired enough to go, gratefully, will shake hands with everyone, bye, bye, and then pack a bag, some snacks, and go to the volcano.” ~ Dave Eggers, a heartbreaking work of staggering genius (Apogaea 2009)
We wandered out to the Colossus for a wide view of Apogaea and spun around on the “Flip Rig” which let us hang upside down like a bat … stretching our spines with a free chiropractic-like spinal adjustment. Chillin at the Lookout Lounge with good music, sangria, and a great panorama of Apogaea.
Was gonna hit the Erotic Bondage / Discipline Performance at Lookout Lounge, but missed it as wandering lured us on another adventure.
Towards dark we wandered into the “Fluoro Forest” where we played with the interactive network of microcontroller-driven UV LEDs and were stunned by the fluorescent beauty.
Partying at Camp Nascar, Part Duh was lots of fun as a good party soared through the night … Spam hors-d=oeuvres, a Ms. Cameltoe, the Whiskey Tango 500 Footrace, games, and incredible music through the night. Yahoo! Also partying at The Apocalypse Now Camp with the Exit Eden Bar endlessly flowing booze into our cups. The TWRG Camel Toe Jam Party rocked the woods with unspeakable havoc as everyone dressed up in blue. Dancing at Energy Riders gave boosts through the evening as well with great tunes and jams. Spun over to the Mischief Yo! Camp for some fun and games and popping in on the Xpat Aliens for some partying at the Crop Circle Cantina, Yo!
