Bodypainting @ Beltania 2010

Face and Body Painting Booth

Face and Body Painting At Beltania 2010
* Florence Mountain Park * Florence, Colorado * www.beltanefestival.com *
Beltania this year was colorfully bestowed with some amazing designs and art throughout the grove, fields, and meadows. There were at least three booths doing face and bodypainting including Henna. As I’m one of those bodypainters present, I unfortunately was so swamped I didn’t have a chance to meet those at the other two booths and therefore can only comment on our experience at Beltania this year. Teamed up in our Face and Bodypainting booth was myself, Leaf McGowan of Tree Leaves’ Oracle & Technogypsie Designs doing face and body painting with a numerous assortment of mediums, David Caballero and Kathy Nutt of Disguises / Blue Sky Collective / Guildwerks doing makeup, special effects, and a variety of mediums in face and body painting; and Tarena Davis doing Henna and Face / Body Art. I thought the four of us made a magical palette of colors and designs. Below are pictures of some of our work from the festival.

Bodypainting at Dreamtime Festival 2009

Tree Leaves’ Oracle Bodypainting and Tarot Booth @ 2009 Dreamtime Festival
* July 16-19, 2009 * Paonia, Colorado * www.dreamthefuture.org * www.treeleavesoracle.org
Our first time at Dreamtime Festival in Paonia was definitely a hit for some incredible designs and paintings, as well as some phenomenal oracles and tarot readings. It’s true that we haven’t been out as a booth to many festivals as of late, minus a few theme stations or camps at Apogaea, Burning Man, and a couple of local club gatherings. But its time to stir the cauldron of change as we evolve into a new blossom for the coming next few years. We decided Dreamtime would be the place to whisper the dream. Our primary bodypainting artist and diviner Leaf McGowan enchanted the space with his omens, oracles, and artwork; a collective of faeries, herbs, arts, crafts from our old Ruxton street shoppe were displayed along with Colachi Arts and their inspirational ritual boxes who shared our booth. While we didn’t break even with the costs of the venue, as could be expected with today’s recession and economic downturn, we had many visitors and made new friends. The photogallery below displays some of the bodypainting designs we brushed out … with guest bodypainter Kathy Nutt who blew us away with her amazing work. (Thank you!!!)

Tree Leaves’ Bodypainting Station at Apogaea 2009

Tree Leaves’ Oracle Bodypainting Station at Apogaea 2009:

Our second year at Apogaea, gifting to the community body paints and bodypainting assistance as a camp where you can come paint yourself or (if he’s in) be painted by the resident bodypainter Leaf McGowan. Below are some of this year’s paintings by Leaf McGowan. Apogaea is a non-commercial event where community groups “gift” to one another various presents as it is a “gift based” economy. This is the Tree Leaves’ Oracle’s gift to the Burning Man community. We also set up a station at Burning Man and many other festivals. View Blogs and 2008 paintings here.

Bodypainting at Beltania 2009

2nd Annual Colorado Beltania Festival: Tree Leaves’ Bodypainting
www.beltanefestival.com * Parrish Ranch * Outside of Fort Collins, Colorado * Living Earth aka Highlands Ranch Pagan Meetup *
Friday-Sunday, May 8-10, 2009
It was a last minute decision for The Tree Leaves’ Oracle to decide to show up to Beltania 2009, and while pretty sure that entering as a last minute merchant/venue wouldn’t fly, they figured they would try it anyhow. Of course, merchant row was too full, so it was just camping and festival fun. I decided to setup the camp anyhow, a place where people could come for free to paint themselves or get painted, just like we do at Apogaea and Burning Man. We were having too much fun running around dancing, frolicking, swimming, and merrymaking, but did get a few dynamic designs in … here they are ….

“2008 Underground “Adrogyny Ball” Fetish Night
The Underground Bar * 110 N Nevada * corner of Kiowa/Nevada * downtown Colorado Springs, Colorado * 9 pm – 1:30 am * 18+ *

We arrived early around 7:30 pm to set up our bodypainting and tarot booth. Setup went quicker than usual as we had different equipment this time around. A slow night for the Fetish events as it occured on a sunday, but a blast nonetheless. The theme for tonight was “Adrogyny Ball” : Girls will be boys, and boys will be girls as the Underground opened its doors to the start of Pride week in Colorado Springs today. Crossdressing fun and costumes were abound. Fetish performance art by Mistress Satori, Goth, EBM, Industrial, and 80’s music with DJ’s DCM8 and Paradigm downstairs, and DJ Gypsy spinning 80’s upstairs. Bodypainting by Leaf and Doug of the Tree Leaves’ Oracle, Shibari Rope Bondage by Pasha Hassan Al Ghol, Unique costume masks and art by Brigid of Brighid’s House of Masks, and special guest visual artists Gary Merrill of Vernal Goddess Studios, and Chris Smeltser. Excellent music and entertainment. Rating 4 stars out of 5.
