Country Buffet

Country Buffet
~ chain across the United States ~

Old Country Buffet has approximately 168 locations throughout the United States under the names of Country Buffet or Home Town Buffet. The mascot for the restaurants is the “O.C. Bee”. The restaurant chain is part of Ovation Brands, Inc. based in Texas as a subsidiary of Food Management Partners, Inc. They offer a steak-buffet, grilled-to-order steaks, single-serve dishes, scratch-made soups, entrees and desserts, beverage bars, buffets, chops and grilled seafood, international foods, and others. They can be found as Old Country Buffet, Country Buffet, HomeTown Buffet and Ryan’s Buffet.

I’ve visited many of these restaurants around the United States and they do not have many differences and their course selections are quite contrary the same. I’m a big fan of buffets, and this is mediocre yet tasty. Good prices for kids but a little higher end for adults. The selection is magnificent but it is your run of the mill home cooked selections with some international specialties to spice things up. Desserts are probably the better selections. Quick, fast, and will fill up your appetite.

China Doll (Colorado Springs, Colorado)

China Doll Restaurant
~ 3629 Star Ranch Rd, Colorado Springs, CO 80906 ~ (719) 579-8822 ~ doordash.com ~

Review by Leaf McGowan/Thomas Baurley, Technogypsie Productions ~

One of my favorite quick Chinese buffets in Colorado Springs, China Doll has a small buffet lunch-time weekdays with some of my favorite dishes. The price is right, the service is fabulous and friendly, and the food is good. What more could you ask? While a medium sized restaurant nestled in a strip mall, on the southwest side of town, it caters to the Army and Air Force the most, it is never too crowded or busy because of its remoteness – so guaranteed seating and not having to wait. I have yet to partake of the menu ordering experience but the buffet is great. Rating: 4 stars out of 5 (visited 1/29/18)

Goth night at Castle “Pulp” (Duisburg, Germany)

PULP
* Wanheimer Strasse 231a, Duisburg-Hochfeld, Germany * +49 (0)203 363 7900 (Th-Sa from 6 PM) * http://pulp-duisburg.de/
Each thursday is Goth/80s/Medieval/Industrial night at the Pulp Nightclub and Restaurant. Held in a large castle full with the ambiance of a medieval castle intact with decor and furnishings …mult-roomed normally with 3 club rooms. An 80’s/new wave court, upstairs a Medieval/Goth music club room, and “The Cave” for medieval/goth/industrial/electro. The top floor was closed during this visit on 4/2/09. My favorite room was the 80’s/darkwave room for dancing and flirting. Drinks were cheap and bar services excellent. As in German tradition drink cards were issued with no tipping expected as usual as found in Germany. Making drinking budget go further. A big banquet room with a buffet and fire-roasted meats were offered for bountiful plates for only a few Euro in cost. The club is open usually until 5 or 6 am. The decorations and ambiance of the club is mindblowing. Excellent DJ’s, music, and selections. Apparently, Drago, the owner, turned the formerly run-down train station into a castle/fortress replica, with full decor. The venue is known as the “event castle in Duisburg”. DJs : Alexx, Dirk, Franko, Mario, Robert, et al. Rating 5 stars out of 5.

To celebrate my birthday one of my co-workers introduced me to this fabulous little Indian restaurant off of 8th street in Colorado Springs. (Thank you Linda!) They had a enormous selection of a buffet offered. I got all my favorites and some tasty Naan as well. Great service, great food, good atmosphere, and all of your favorites for all you can eat. The Mutter Paneer and the Malai Kofta were my favorites. Great restaurant. Rating: 4.25 stars out of 5.

Yak and Yeti Indian Cuisine (Westminster, Colorado)

Yak and Yeti * Westminster * 8665 N. Sheridan * Westminster, Colorado * 303-426-1976 * http://www.yakandyeti.net/

A high-quality Indian chain restaurant with a delicious buffet. This Westminster branch is located in a shopping court and is easily located for a drive by from the highway. The decor is modest and lacks extravagance as one usually sees in most moderately priced Indian restaurants, but the service is very good, as is the food. The Buffet is all you can eat for $14.95 and gives you a wide variety of some of your favorite Indian dishes. All in all, a good experience, and I’m sure I’ll be back. Rating 3.5 stars out of 5.
