Blank Canvas Cafe (Colorado Springs)

Blank Canvas Cafe
~ 103 S Wahsatch Ave #106, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903 ~

A great little hole-in-the-wall restaurant and cafe off of Wahsatch avenue in downtown Colorado Springs. It appears to be a popular hangout and has great reviews. I unfortunately have not yet tried it out. They offer a unique assortment of teas, pastries, salads, paninis, sandwiches, and locally roasted coffee. They offer an artistic space for local artists and hand-made creations from the Studio as well as poetry readings, open mic night, comedy, music, and entertainment. The cafe is the vision of Dream Catchers and funded by Ariel Clinical Services.

Rosewood Market (Columbia, South Carolina)

Rosewood Market

A nice alternative to Whole Foods … this wonderful local natural grocery store and community center has all of your natural, organic, and healthy lifestyle grocery and health needs. Still high priced like Wholefoods (but a bit more affordable), Rosewood Market is worth the support. If you live in or will be travelling through Columbia, South Carolina – this is a great place for grocery shopping and finding out about up-to-date community events. Rosewood Market was opened in 1973, originally as a restaurant called the “Basil Pot”, and began carrying groceries until it took over. The Cafe is spectacular, tasty, and good healthy food. They pride themselves on local foods, fresh produce, organic and free range meats. They have a Deli, cater, and have a outside dining patio. We’ve had the pleasure to visit the store many times, and have indulged in their fine cooking, baking, and creations. Rating 4.5 stars out of 5.

An interesting little cafe near the entrance to walk out to Kalapana beach. Me and my friend Kawika dropped in for lunch and a drink. I tried the combination platter which had beef terriyaki, fish n’ chips, crab cakes, rice, and potato salad. Not bad for the price, but I’ve had better. Service was a bit slow, but decent. Staff seemed pre-occupied but were friendly. It hit the spot so no complaints and it’s not like you have any other options in this town that barely still exists no more than a tourist stop since Kalapana was destroyed by the lava flows in 1990. A great little Morroccon cafe in the heart of old town Dusseldorf. Some of the cities finest cocktails, desserts, and bar-time snacks can be found here. An incredible ambience, hospitable staff, and a great place to hang out while visiting this famous city. A must visit location. While I can’t comment on the food as the only item I personally ordered was the hot chocolate with a shot a bailey’s Irish cream, I’ve been told the menu items here are fabulous. A quaint and artsy little house cafe/restaurant off of Dale street with a great patio and dining area. Full bar, wine list, and contemporary European and American cuisine with Asian fusion. Adorned with original oil paintings and master craftsman sculptures they claim to be one of the most romantic getaway bistros in the city. We tried their signature soup – the Dilled Cream of Artichoke which was fabulous. I had the grilled eggplant sandwich which was delicious! Wonderful service. Top rating: 5 stars out of 5!

A quaint little bar * cafe * restaurant in a nice cozy neighborhood on South Cascade between Cimarron and I-25. Nestled amongst cute little houses, this artsy warm bar has a friendly staff, food and drinks to die for, and an ambience quite undescribable. Japanese paper art decorates the ceiling, art deco on the walls.

I had the Chicken Club and coconut shrimp soup, and the dark and stormy cocktail. Delicious! I went on Tuesday night, while they were having their movie night – double feature: Labyrinth/Legend. While I couldn’t stay for both, I certainly enjoyed the night. Thanks!!! Rating 5 stars out of 5. Visited 1/23/07.
